Mission and Goals
Colon Cancer Canada is a national organization dedicated to saving lives through increasing public awareness of colorectal cancer and access to screening, funding research initiatives, and providing colorectal cancer patient support.
How Your Contribution Helps
Colon Cancer is 90% preventable if detected early. In 2014, an estimated 24,400 new cases were diagnosed in Canada. More than 9,000 Canadians lost their lives that same year.
With your help Colon Cancer Canada is working towards drastically changing those numbers!
- Patient Support - We receive assistance applications from Doctors or Social Workers for patients diagnosed with colon cancer that require help in many ways; some are for help with the cost of expensive treatments, or for the cost of palliative care support in the home, for equipment in the home or simply for help paying the rent for a single parent undergoing treatment and unable to work.
- Awareness & Screening - On-going support is given to hospitals, all across the country, to aid in their efforts to add colonoscopy suites, increase screening capacity and reduce wait times. CCC also focuses on increasing awareness of the importance of screening for all.
- Research - Each year we receive and review grant applications for research in the field of colon cancer. We are able to support these various enterprises to varying degrees depending on the funding available to us in each calendar year.
Colon cancer is preventable, treatable and beatable!
I chose Colon Cancer Canada for my ECHOage party because I wanted to raise money for colon cancer research and for people to be aware of colon cancer. I have also been going to the walk since I was a baby because my mom helps out with the charity. It is such a fun event and I love going. Jonah, Age 10
