Mission and Goals
YWCA Toronto transforms the lives of marginalized and disadvantaged women and girls in Toronto.
YWCA Toronto is a strong advocate for women and girls, providing transformative services in the areas of employment support and training, housing options and shelters, leadership development programs for girls and key supports for women and children who have experienced violence.
How Your Contribution Helps
Our work depends on donations from people who share our commitment to transforming the lives of marginalized and disadvantaged women and girls in our community.
YWCA Toronto serves over 12,000 women and girls in 12 neighbourhoods across Toronto each year.
Here are just a few of the 30 programs we offer:
YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre, located in one of the poorest neighbourhoods in Toronto, offers after-school programs for girls between the ages of 9 and 18, including mentoring, team activities, and workshops on current issues, like cyber-bullying, online safety, and self-esteem.
Camp Tapawingo on Georgian Bay welcomes girls ages 6 to 15, and provides subsidies to girls who are living in our shelters. When you send a girl to camp, you are giving her a life-changing experience. Girls build leadership skills, make lasting friendships, and gain confidence in their abilities.
Our shelters for women and children fleeing violence keep families safe. Your support will provide vital services like trauma-informed counselling, employment and legal supports, and will help women find safe, affordable housing for themselves and their children.
“In our world we are equal. The cool staff at YWCA Toronto give us the space to talk about what matters to girls. We can have fun, be who we are, and strive to be who we want to be without judgement. We learn how we can change for the better.” – Maykah & Mahayah, members of the Girl’s Council at YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre
